It's Halloween !!!!

Like all good witches Esme's been out shopping getting ready for Halloween.

What's she bought now ?

It's her new friend  a little Pumpkin man

She wants a photo for her album. He's trying to say cheese which makes Esme laugh.

Right let's go Trick or Treating.

Secret critters down in the wood

You never know who's lurking around the woods. These cute little critters are made by an artist called Josh Simpson who leaves them around in parks for people to find. We need more Josh Simpson's in the world.

Esme need's a shed

I decided that Esme really needs a shed as her tools are cluttering up the tree house so I set about making her a shed to put all her tools and garden things in.

I used a small box I found that was just the right size and using lolly pop stick's  I cut them to size and hot glued them in place around the outside of the box to make the whole thing very study. I then put in a shelve. When I was happy with the way it looked I stained the whole thing.
Would Esme approve ?

She was very happy with her new shed so we set about putting her tool's and garden things in their new home.

Now after all that work we went back to the tree house for a well earned cup of tea.

Esme's front room is all ready now and it didn't take long for her cats Tiddles and Bentley to settle themselves in by the fire.

Esme's getting ready

Esme's just stopped for a quick cup of tea and a welcome break from all the work she's doing getting ready to move into the new tree house. She would get on quicker if Tiddles the cat would only stop getting under her feet. Well she say's "upwards and onward time wait's for no man not even an old witch like myself.

Finishing the tree house

The tree house finished after three layers of paint and and sealed with a matt varnish and a roof made in the same way.

Adding a few minor details and it almost ready for Esme the witch to move in.

She's very happy and looking forward to the move in the next couple of days

The second stage for the bark.

To make the outside of the tree bark I glued long strips of kitchen paper dipped in a mixture of PVA with a small amount of water, squeezing out the excess glue then scrunch the paper into a long sausage shape and mould them onto the tree. I learnt how to do this watching Sharon Ojala on her You Tube channel "Where the Gnomes live". Where the Gnomes live  She also has a very nice Face book site about the amazing B&B she made for the gnomes to live in.
After leaving it to dry thoroughly before you paint it, I used different shades of brown  acrylic paint to get the right effect of the bark.

A happy Esme outside her new tree house down in Bramble Grove.

Starting the tree house

To create the bark effect you will need tin foil, masking tape and kitchen paper (the plain white stuff ) a glue gun and PVA glue.

To get the right effect for the bark on tree I rolled up long strips of tin foil and glued the foil to the out side of the tree till it's completely covered.

I then covered all the foil with masking tape and it's now ready for the last layer of the bark.

The making of Esme's tree house

This is her tree house in the making.
It started out as a twisted book case which I lovingly put together. It stands 2 foot high and cost me £14.99 from a company called Stamps Away on Ebay and is made from MDF. Each shelf measures 17cm x17cm and is perfect for the room's in her tree house. The bottom floor will be the kitchen, the second floor will be her front room, the third floor will be her bedroom and the top floor is for Esme's witchy room where she can store her herbs and potions and all her other witchy stuff. I think Esme is going to be very happy here as the work goes on building her little tree house.
